A career doing this, not advising on it.
Who DunDrake is for
For leadership teams ready to grow, and determined to get it right.
Our clients are capable, ambitious CEOs and leadership teams: expert operators meeting the international expansion decision for the first time, or going back out to the next market. They have built something real, the pressure to grow is on, and a new market is the natural next move.
We have taken businesses into new markets ourselves. We know how quickly a reasonable assumption becomes an expensive one, and how much time, money and energy it costs to learn that the hard way. DunDrake exists so the next team works through the four SCaLE stages first, and reaches the successful outcome sooner.
We believe in entrepreneurs. The businesses they build create jobs, deliver services people value and build wealth for everyone involved. Our job is to clear the way: to remove as many barriers as we can and move a plan from hold position to cleared for take-off. Everything we do is built around the leadership team and the success of the business. When you succeed, we have done our job.
JP Hamilton runs DunDrake, which tests an international expansion decision before capital and leadership attention are committed, turning ambition into a tested route, a clear recommendation and named ownership. DunDrake stops at the decision: no entity set-up, no country manager hired, and no fee from anyone who implements the move.
His operational experience and know-how span a career that covers FMCG (PepsiCo), telecoms and media (Virgin Media), start-up co-founder (Boxglo) and sustainability and fintech SaaS (World Wide Generation). What partners say
“He brings structure where there is ambiguity, and momentum where there is friction, without losing the human judgement that turns good plans into outcomes.”
“…taking a calm look at a tense or difficult situation, smile, ask good, probing questions, and steer everyone to a place of clarity and action.”
“…strong commercial acumen, playing a key role in closing complex contracts while ensuring alignment between client needs and internal teams.”
The stronghold and the journey beyond it.
The name DunDrake combines two ideas.
Dùn is Scottish Gaelic for a stronghold: something grounded, secure and built to last. Drake evokes exploration, navigation and the confidence to venture into unfamiliar territory.
Together they reflect how we think about growth: build from strength, be bold in your ambition, and venture further in pursuit of extraordinary outcomes.
